Short waves

Just up the 5, a bit of drama in Bakersfield where a woman decided to make a point with the local CBS affiliate - with her van.  The woman, who is part of a love triangle that allegedly caused a murder, took offense at the station's news crew shooting video of her house.  The sheriff's office is having her charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

What is it with Henry DiCarlo and Megan Henderson?  I guess KTLA figures those harassment classes don't apply to talent.

KFI's John & Ken are at it again.  This time, they're characterizing poor children on government assistance as "little Solyndrites." a reference to the failed solar energy company who took half a billion dollars in government loans before going bankrupt. (Media Matters)

The Media Rating Council, a non-profit association "whose goal is to ensure measurement services that are valid, reliable and effective," has pulled accreditation for Arbitron's people meter radio numbers in Riverside-San Bernardino as well as four others.  Arbitron's batting average is not great - with the addition of the latest five, 39 of the 48 markets that use PPM are unaccredited.

  2. KTLA can get away with that since they have no national news to show at 4. Sadly, even the Big 3 will likely follow suit eventually. Because hey, local news makes more money!
